A phrase that is said after mentioning some concept (the "that" which the phrase refers to) to indicate that though the concept may be conventionally used and referred to, it is ill-defined (or never defined), and inquiry into it, itself, may be warranted — not merely the context in which it was supposed to be relevant, such as the context of whatever was being discussed when the concept was mentioned.
